On behalf of the SBCS community, I would like to extend sincere condolences to the family of the late Mr Satnarayan Maharaj; Secretary-General of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS).

Mr Maharaj was a national figure and an indefatigable and fearless advocate for equity and fairness of treatment. He fought for his community, the Hindu community, but the battles he fought and won have had a transformative impact on our entire nation. One of his favourite remarks was, “ A rising tide lifts all boats”; meaning that whatever success he gained for his community would be to the benefit of all. He was passionate about education, and his legacy in this area will live on for generations to come. His other great passion was the Hindu religion, and here as well, he had an indelible and inestimable impact.

Agree with him or not, one had to admire and respect his indomitable spirit and courage. No matter the controversy, he was never afraid to live his life, as he saw it to be lived.

May his soul move on to a higher plane of existence.
