Carnival 2013 at SBCS, Champs Fleurs.

On Friday, February 1, 2013, the Student Services Department hosted our annual Carnival Karaoke Talent Show, bringing soca music to the SBCS stage. The event was packed full of both in-house talent and star entertainment.

The show started off with a bang with our guest artiste, soca star “K. Rich” surprising the students with a mini concert, singing his hit songs “Nothing Less” and “Wine Back”. Many of our students were clearly star-struck, asking for his autograph and taking photos with “Mr. Rich”.

The fun continued as “Zumba” instructor, Nicholas Gordon provided an interactive demonstration, inviting students to follow his dance moves step-by-step. Zumba, SBCS-style, was definitely a highlight of our Health and Wellness Week, as spectators and participants got into the demonstration. Both students and staff are calling for Mr. Gordon to return for another session, as he left us wanting more.

The final segment of the show, the Soca Karaoke Competition, included five entrants, who each entertained the crowd to no end. While all our contestants produced entertaining performances, our judges selected the following winners:

1st Prize – Adrian Mohammed & Justin Parillon (ACCA students) performing “Bubble” – Iwer George and “Wotless” – Kes the Band

2nd Prize – Tiffany Choon (ACCA) performing “Meet Super Blue” – Fay Ann Lyons and “Max It Up” – Destra

3rd Prize – Kyle Beach (UoL) & Abigail Williams (ABE) performing “Bucket” – Swappi and “We Doing This Owah” – Fay Ann Lyons.

The pictures tell the story of a great time had by all. We look forward to bigger and better performances in 2014.
