Vijay Birsingh is a project management professional with over 25 years’ progressive experience anchored in the oil and gas industry with positions in the technical, business and leadership domains.
Mr Birsingh holds a Master of Science Degree in Project Management, Certification as a Project Manager (PMP®), a Bachelor’s degree and he is also a certified trainer via the Carnegie Mellon Heinz School.
Mr Birsingh is a past Vice President of the Project Management Institute – Southern Caribbean Chapter. He also has held key strategic postings such as Manager, Accreditation, Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2009 (CHOGM), Director at the National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) (2009-2010), Assistant Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and New Business Ventures at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT). He also served as a Project Leader, Fifth Summit of the Americas (VSOA) on appointment from the Office of the Prime Minister, National Secretariat. Mr Birsingh assisted Petrotrin in maturing its project management processes by leading the institutionalization of project risk management, contract strategies, a PMIS and scientific bid evaluation tools inter-alia. He also implemented world class training systems at Petrotrin.
Mr Birsingh is experienced in various Bid Evaluations and Contracting models, FIDIC and the processes of the World Bank, IADB, ADB, NADB, JBIC, EU and other agencies as well as FIDIC. He also has experience in managing soft projects in large events, business development, knowledge management, e-business and IT.
At SBCS, Mr Birsingh lectures for the Heriot-Watt University and the University of Sunderland BA Hons in Business Management. He served as a consultant to Edinburgh Business School in the development of its MBA module, Project Management for the Oil and Gas Industry and has successfully lectured it with commendation. He facilitates Managing Projects as well as PMP Certification and Bid Evaluations. He also delivered corporate training at companies such as Atlantic LNG, BpTT and Carib Brewery and the financial, telecommunications and manufacturing sectors.
