On behalf of the SBCS community, I extend warm greetings to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago as we commemorate the 56th anniversary of our Independence.
While achieving Independence remains one of our crowning accomplishments as a nation, the journey to this success was undoubtedly filled with challenges, and setbacks. Yet, through grit, determination and heart, the patriotism of our forefathers shone through and led us to that fateful moment on August 31, 1962. In the same vein, I encourage us today to exhibit that same spirit of patriotism as we navigate the challenges we currently face, to build a better Trinidad and Tobago. The strength and determination of our forebears flow through us today, and as a united people we owe it to them to secure and steady our nation for the generations to come: “together we aspire, together we achieve.”
Have a safe and happy Independence Day.
