February 8th, 2017 saw the commencement of Cycle 9 of SBCS’ Get Work Ready (GWR) Employability Training initiative, with a total seventy-six (76) full-time students – currently registered in the ABE, ACCA/FIA and Matriculations to BTEC (HNDs) in Computing Systems Development (CSD), Media & Graphic Design programmes; participating in this year’s offering.

In celebration of the students’ successful completion of the GWR initiative, Dr. Robin Maraj (Founder & Executive Director, SBCS) provided words of acknowledgement and encouragement to students, in their pursuit of academic excellence and workforce preparedness during the Certificate Distribution Ceremony held on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017. This was followed by an inspirational presentation titled ‘The Hero’s Journey’ from Mr. Kumar B. Sookram (Manager, Quality Assurance, SBCS).
Ms. Ria Gomes (Manager, Office of the Executive Director, SBCS) reiterated the “Do’s” & “Don’ts” of the job application process, in managing both their own and the employer’s expectations.
Overall, there were five (5) students who achieved scores ranging between 90-100% in their Mock Interviews, with the top scorer being Ms. Andrea Campbell of the FIA programme – who along with this tier of students, received special recognition for their efforts.
Two (2) students – male & female, were also given recognition for the most appropriately attired during their Mock Interviews.
The event concluded with all students receiving their certificates, followed by a celebration of success.
