On behalf of the staff and students of SBCS, I would like to express heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of our past student, Shannon Banfield. The death of a student affects the entire SBCS community, and I know that all of us send our deepest expressions of sympathy to those who knew Shannon dearly.

We join a family and a nation in mourning over the passing of this young, promising individual. It is always a tragedy to lose one at such a tender age; may her light never fade in the hearts and memories of those closest to her.

We can best honour the life of Shannon by diligently working each and every day towards forging a nation that is kinder, gentler and more civil – this remains the great task before us.
