During the period Monday, March 12, 2012 to Friday, March 16, 2012, participants of the SBCS “Get Work Ready” programme engaged in mock interview exercises, designed to simulate real-life interview scenarios and assess skill gaps in the candidates. The exercise, geared exclusively towards full time students, required each student to apply for a position in a Company by submitting a Cover letter and a Curriculum Vitae (CV); a challenge the students accepted and engaged in with great enthusiasm.
The interviews were conducted by SBCS full time staff in Managerial and Senior Supervisory positions from varying departments. Their aim was to move from theory to practice, the concepts of interviewing that were already taught to the students. Candidates were assessed on their approach to, preparation for (including attire) and conduct throughout the process. At the end of the interview, each participant was advised on the improvements that could be made to his/her interview skills.
The Get Work Ready programme concludes on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 with a session that recaps the Do’s and Don’ts of Interviewing and Proper Business Etiquette in the Workplace.
