As part of our initiative of partnering with parents in the education of our full time students, SBCS hosted its first “Meet and Greet” Parents’ Day for the Association of Business Executives (ABE) programme on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Trincity campus and on Friday, January 13, 2012 at both the Champs Fleurs and San Fernando campuses.
Parents were briefed on SBCS’ philosophy of creating lifelong learners with a drive for excellence and a passion for challenges. They were informed of the inclusion of essential soft skill courses as part of the curricula to develop skills such as leadership, critical thinking and team building. They were also informed of our intent to soon implement programmes in association with Non-Governmental organisations, to enhance the students’ social responsibility skills.
At the Parents’ Day, parents were afforded the opportunity to meet individually with lecturers. These meetings allowed for discussion over their child’s progress during the term, as well as recommendations for improvement, where necessary.
The Course Administrators and Student Services representatives were also present at the sessions to provide further information on the programme, the Student Council and other planned activities to develop the students’ skills set.
