SBCS’ “Carnival Experience” 2014

Published: 12:00 AM on February 28, 2014

The “Carnival Experience” came to the Champs Fleurs Campus cafeteria on Thursday, February 20th when the Student Council (CF) hosted their annual Carnival Karaoke competition. The show was aptly named – what an “experience” it turned out to be!

Our resident musician Joshua Boodram opened the show, to the delight of the fans, with his acoustic version of “Too Real”. Our students then proceeded to compete in two Karaoke rounds. Their work was cut out for them, but our performers rose to the challenge and energised the audience.

Special mention must be made of the sole staff entrant into the competition – “Alli” & Crew gave a dramatic and crowd pleasing interpretation of “The Dhoti Song”. There was no question about who was getting the People’s Choice Prize – “Alli” and her measuring tape ran away with it by a mile!

Our student winners were:
• First Place – Tiffany Choon – ACCA (This is the second time that this songstress has won our Karaoke Grand Prize – 2012 & 2014!)
• Second Place – Chauxmus Forde – ABE Level 5
• Third Place – Jemelia Floyd – ABE Level 4

To crown the excellent student performances, the audience was treated to a guest performance by Cassie that had everyone singing along. The fans were also happy to take a few photos with Cassie after his energetic performance. Last but not least, the Tunapuna Secondary School dancers gave a lively performance which the crowd fully enjoyed.

Thanks to all who made “Carnival Experience” a success! And in the words of our Executive Director, we wish everyone a SAFE and enjoyable Carnival 2014.
