On Sunday 25th November, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., it was all about Mud, Sweat & Football!!! Our SBCS Five-a-Side Football Competition was held at the St. Augustine Secondary School Football Grounds, and ten (10) teams came out to battle for the Championship Trophy and $2000 Grand Prize.
The teams on the day were: Aero, Capua F.C., Electric Shockers, London United, Mavericks, S.C. All Stars, Share Salad, Strikers, Titans, and Victoria’s Secret. After fighting their way out of the first round, six (6) teams labored through the second stage of group games. The results of the second round gave us the final four: Aero, S.C. All Stars, Capua F.C. and Share Salad.
At the end of the tournament, after the dust, or rather the mud had settled, there was only one team who reigned supreme: The South Campus All Stars. The full list of our 2012 winners, is as follows:
Champions: S.C. All Stars (San Fernando)
2nd Place: Aero (Champs Fleurs)
3rd Place: Share Salad (Champs Fleurs/Trincity)
Golden Boot Winner: Carlos Andujar (San Fernando)
Most Valuable Player: Anfernee Logie (Champs Fleurs)
Congratulations to the San Fernando Campus, whose both teams were in the Final Four, and whose All Stars will be the first champions engraved on the challenge trophy.
How did the Champs Fleurs students feel about South walking away with the Championship? The word is “Aero” and other Champs Fleurs students have declared that this will NOT happen again. However, they will only be able to settle the score the next time all warriors gather on the football field.
