At 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, the eagerly anticipated Student Recreation Centre (SRC) was formally declared open. In her address to the gathering of staff, students and lecturers present for the opening, Campus Manager, Mrs. Terry Amirali-Rambharat reminded the students that this space was for them to relax, refocus and re-energise between classes. “The provision of this SRC for our student body, demonstrates SBCS’ commitment to a holistic environment for learning, which includes not only the provision of academic and pastoral support but also recreational,” she added.
HND Business student, Kerron Bissoon, spoke on behalf of the student body, expressing their collective excitement and gratitude. His brief address also commended the efforts of Administration to consider the suggestions for improvement submitted in evaluations.
This first SRC which is open Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. allows for students to relax, recreate, compete and interact with others as they play pool, foosball and table tennis or just relax and watch a movie. It is yet another example that SBCS is indeed, A Great Place to Learn.
