SBCS South Campus All Stars Reign Supreme Once Again!

Published: 12:00 AM on November 04, 2013

On Sunday, October 20th, 2013, Student Services hosted its annual 5-a-Side Inter-Campus Football Tournament at the El Dorado West Secondary School grounds. Twelve teams participated, all vying for the $2,500 grand prize as well as the much coveted challenge trophy; eleven teams comprised of students and one was an SBCS staff team.

They all battled it out at the group stage , but eventually the Mavericks, INAC FC, Misfits, Greyhounds, SC (South Campus) All Stars, Titans, Capua and Share Salad made it to the quarter finals. The competition was intense, as teams from Champs Fleurs, Port-of-Spain and San Fernando were all competing to hold the title of champion for their respective campuses.

As the teams played, the spectators were entertained by the event’s MC, Justin Parillon, with his team of DJs Andrea Parillon and Marcus Wellington of Alpha One Productions. There was no shortage of food and drinks as the Student Council provided several options of finger foods and BBQ.

After a gruelling day, the games came to a head, with SC All Stars (the defending champs) playing against INAC FC. It was a close game, but the SC All Stars came out on top, winning first place for a second consecutive year for the San Fernando campus.  INAC FC placed second, while Misfits came in third place. Additionally, there were two star players who made quite an impact on the day. Mr. Jervon Ramie of INAC FC was named MVP while Mr. Keenan Sheppard of the SC All Stars won the title of Golden Boot (most goals scored). Congratulations to all the teams on a game well played!

It seems as though the San Fernando campus is on a winning streak. Will they keep the title of champions for a third year in 2014 or will Champs Fleurs, Trincity or Port-of-Spain claim it for their own?
